Just curious how common Chinese Dragon Dollars are in collections among CCF members. Does any CCF member collect Dragon Dollars or has one for sale?

I have a couple fakes that I picked up before I knew any better (and joined CCF).

I love Dragon coins but it's a bad time to start - they're expensive and many fakes.
Some older collectors told me in the past they were only a few dollars each !

I concur with the sentiments expressed so far. The current preponderance of modern numismatic forgeries of this type demands a presumption that any you see are phony until demonstrated otherwise. And some of the better executed fakes can on occasion fool even dealers and third party grading services. That sort of peril doesn't make for a particularly fun collecting experience.

I love looking at photos of them, but I agree with the sentiments regarding fakes. I don't think I have ever seen a genuine example posted here, except for certified pieces bought in hard-won auctions by serious collectors in the field.

Just as I thought. Can't seem to find any that are in my reach, keep running into fakes everywhere in the US. Found one certified PCGS for sale the other day for $400, but out of my reach. The ones I found that were actually affordable are in Canada, which makes it so hard to pay for ( I don't have Paypal)! Starting to lose hope.

Why did I even traded off my Dragon Dollars collection back then?

If you go for smaller denomination coins, they are definitely more affordable.

I have been a bit luckier as I started when I noticed Chinese coin prices went up rapidly.

Yeah I tried the smaller denomination but they don't look very interesting besides the 20 cents ones.

Update :
A deal for a Dragon dollar is underway. I'll find out the provinces from the dealer soon.
