This 1956 Penny Has A Raised Circle On Back. Any Ideas How Or Why?

Crazyb0 Rest in Peace 10197 Posts	Posted 07/17/2017 12:35 pm to the forum Appears to be a " Dryer Coin". A machine damaged coin that was caught in a spinning/crushing motion. Notice the wear further inside the folded over rim. It may not have been an actual dryer, but it was spun in some sort of mechanical device (coin sorter?). I'm leaning toward a glue ir adhesive residue also, but you might be able to confirm this if you soaked the coin in acetone. This would most likely remove an adhesive. Other than the visual ugliness it seems to be undamaged compared to the Dryer Coins , I looked at it and thought it got burned some how. Just my one cent worth. Report this Post to the Staff
