Hi, I'm new to this site, and new (again) to coin collecting. I used to collect when I was a kid and built up a decent collection for a kid. I stopped collecting at some point and my coins sat in my parents basement for a long time. 30 years later, my own kids are interested in history and I've been giving them some history lessons and I realized that coins would help bring their history alive. So I dug up my old collection and was reminded of how much I loved coin collecting, so I'm trying to get back into it. I would appreciate any advice on what has changed in the last 30 years, and how best to build up my collection from the standpoint of teaching my kids history and getting them interested in coins.
You might want to consider a type set. That has one of each "kind" of coin. One Jefferson nickel, one Morgan dollar, etc. It explores a great deal of history with a reasonable number of coins.
