Looks cleaned (dipped) with an obverse scratch. Not original, but it seemed to be a high grade and was priced right at $70 so I bought it. Your thoughts on grade and issues appreciated?

I agree it's been cleaned. Still a decent looking coin.

The surfaces look odd, and there is a distracting scratch by star 11. I would have waited for a better example because AU examples often show up for less than $70.

I won't dis it as you were well aware of what it was before you bought it. But since this a very common date and a very common type coin I might have held off for one that wasn't dipped.

It is always so terribly easy to read a written comment and ascribe an emotional bent that was not intended. I'm glad you know I had no intention of belittling your choice, only in an honest contribution.

Since you've joined, NS, I've always appreciated your well thought out comments and I appreciate that you do know that mud slinging was not my intention.

In fact, I'm quite certain that we retain so many knowledgeable individuals on this board precisely because of our attempted tolerance.
