I have seen the indoscopes on the bay that you can use with smart phones. 10x is a bit much,go as low as you can.

10x will zoom in to a mintmark! What do you want to look at? That will determine your magnification.

The magnifications quoted by mfrs may be confusing for folks. Reason is they include the "screen magnification" in the number. Basically they consider taking the 10-20mm wide sensor and presenting it onto a 500-800mm monitor as "magnification", which it is not. The magnification we talk about on this forum is "optical" magnification. Thus if you have 2x optical magnification (which is typical for USB microscopes) and 50x "screen" magnification (also typical), you get the 1000x magnification numbers these guys quote.
