Hmmmm.. I was thinking the die crack had to actually come out of his head, not his shoulder or neck. That's why they call it a spiked head. Thanks for the correction and feedback CoinCents!
Spike Head became popular in the late 1960's when the 1969 edition of "THE CLASSIFICATION AND VALUE OF ERRORS ON THE Lincoln Cent" by Jean Cohen was published. Jean hand illustrated and indexed 800 Spike Heads she found on the Lincoln Cents through 1969.
Post it errors. I love the spike heads,Unusual die chips,crazy die cracks. The list goes on and on. I really enjoy the unusual not highly collectible stuff.
