My husband found some coins. We know nothing about them other than it was a fun find. Can someone tell us if this is real? Any insight is appreciated!

Welcome to CCF.
I hate to tell you that your 1884 Morgan with "cc" mint mark is a counterfeit coin.
The letters, eagle's head, mint mark, on and on are all incorrect. Sorry..

I'm not a specialist in these but, it doesn't look right to me either. I'd say it is a fake. It may still be silver, though. And  Please do share other finds!

This is what the mintmark should look like on an 1884-CC dollar:  The position may be different but the font is way off.

This looks like a Chinese modern made counterfeit. Very poor quality with no silver what so ever in it.

Thank you for your responses. Much appreciated. My boys were excited to help Dad do research on the 7 coins he found. Never thought coins could get them so stirred.

That is most certainly a counterfeit, because just about everything looks wrong with it. If it sticks to a magnet, it is made of steel.

finding a counterfeit 84cc, although not as exciting as finding the real thing, is still very exciting. congrats1
