Promise there won't be 5 of these a day.

I already bought this coin knowing that it's likely cleaned or something. I saw one that looked similar in a Details holder marked 'Environmental Damage'. Fire Damage?

As long as it's authentic, I'll just keep it forever. Just want to own something this old.

Is this altered in some way? I didn't pay much for it.

I'm at F12-F15 Details (Corrosion or ED). I think most of the LC's would grade details for one reason or another. These were the 1¢ coin of the day, and they were disliked because of their size. I don't think they were treated much better then we treat zincoln today.

I love them, and am 1 coin away from a complete set. Yours is a nice honest coin, and they have such a cool feel in hand. Enjoy it!

That's very cool, I would love to see such a set in person. Maybe at a show.

Re: the grade, yeah, I figured as much. It doesn't matter to me though, just can't wait to get this in hand. I'm starting to figure out which coins appeal and this is definitely one.

Thanks for the responses.

I should add that I'm one coin away (1857) from 1797 through 1857, not including the 1804 (can't afford that!).

Aha, I see. Is the 1804 the rare date that costs $xxxx? I'm off to look it up : )

Thanks jerryc. You'd agree that it would be graded Details, right?

But you could afford the 1799?

In any event that's an awesome accomplishment!

color of pics are not very good at evaluating the surfaces. May or may not be a details coin.

Okay, I doubt I'll ever get it TPG graded anyway. If I take it to a coin show one day and they tell me it isn't details, great.

That's a modern coin by UK standards.

Haha, very true! I have a family connection to the UK so I'm eyeing up a few British coins as well. I'll be here with questions when it comes time to buy.
