Don't forget the UK grades are stricter than US grades.It may well get ef45 or au50 in the US.

I understand. On an unrelated note, I'm wondering if people regarded such small coins as a nuisance in commerce and if that may have increased the tendency to put aside such coins. It would also seem that such a small coin would be be less likely to be melted and more likely to survive.

These coins were never legal tender in the UK and were produced for the Colonies.
Their buying power would of been fairly high.
