Don't you love the patina on this one got it last week for pretty cheap price. I prefer these than the silver ones IONIA, Ephesos. Circa 370-350 BC. Æ13, 1.5g, 12h. Obv.: Bee / E-Phi; Rev.: Forepart of a stag right, head left. Reference: SNG Copenhagen 244 For size comparison here's one of the seller's pictures, it even shows of the color more.

Cool coin, I think everyobe should have an Ephesos coin... mine has head of Artemis on the other side... I have to say your stag is more fun...yours is less worn than mine too...
Good pick up, great type.

@JO, the remaining detail on that is really great. Nice pick-up!

I believe it's made of bronze or copper.

It should be bronze or "copper" in color. I am seeing yellow brass color. I know from my own pics that colors can be incorrect. Are you seeing bronze or are you seeing yellow brass when you hold it in normal light ?

I guess these are commonly faked types... I bought one from V-coins that I had to return because it wasn't right (a well made silver cast)
I hope Rufus isn't onto something here...

Impossible for me to be certain and Greeks are not in my comfort zone. But a quick review of Wildwinds makes me think it is possibly a brass cast of a 15mm silver. The raised edge and ornate antlers are common to the silver issues. Small bronzes tend to have less detail i.e. the antlers.

As you say, I don't think it is possible to assess whether the coin is cast from the photos supplied above or from the colour of the metal alone. It is certainly not similar to the cast fakes in FORVM's fake reports. I will say that the patina does look to me like the coin was stripped and it was applied afterwards (especially in the second photo). I'm not sure I agree that the detail is different on bronze coins. Look at this example (ex CNG) for example, which is also SNG Cop 244: https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=1242344I don't have my SNG Cop. with my right now but will check it when I get home. Justin, what is the weight of your coin and can you post a bigger photo so we can see the surfaces of the coin together with a photo of the edge - on the edge, do you see evidence of a casting seam or attempts to remove it i.e. filing?

Sorry for the late reply.
The coin in real world is a bit darker than in the photos, the patina color is more like a desert look and colors are not very bright/colorful. It is about 13 mm in diameter and 1.5 in weight I'll take a picture once I get home.
