Thoughts on grade and problems? I liked the strike and sharp rims on this one, but unsure of surface and color. Copper is so hard for me. Thanks.

No guess on grade or problems, just wanted to say I personally think she's a beaut.

One of these is the next coin on my buy list!

The details are AU (there is lots of luster), but the color screams "dipped and retoned!"

I agree that the surfaces do not look original

It has been dip wiped lightly and not yet fully recovered on the obverse.

It's nice and crisp otherwise. It wouldn't straight grade, but as long as the price takes the wipe into consideration, I wouldn't kick it out of my binder.

Looks like C-1 with lots of recutting and strengthening, and some clash marks on the reverse.

TPG AU55-AU58. Decent strike, with only slight weakness at S4-S7.

I do not have a copy of Manley's book in front of me so I cannot offer the die state, although M2.0 is most common for this year and Cohen variety.

Dies were rusty, perhaps, with lots of raised bumps throughout the hair; there is some very minor porosity towards the lower reverse which concerns me slightly since the toning is notably different in this area.

The only major thing about this coin that does not "sit right" with me is the area directly left of the neck which appears to have been burnished or had a spot removed.

I don't see many hairlines to indicate a mechanical cleaning, but it doesn't look particularly like a recolored coin either, so I'm just going to say "no call" on the color at this time. It may be very well original to the coin.

This came in today. I examined it carefully and it looks stunning. I believe that it is MS63 or MS64. It do not have any doubt that it is uncirculated. There is even, uninterrupted luster throughout the surfaces of both sides of the coin. The color is the only sticking point. Never seen rims this flawless. A definite keeper.

Thanks to all for sharing your thoughts.
