Hello all
It's getting rough here in Salem, OR. getting boxes of cents. My trusted bank source put me on notice they will only do one box a week , the other told me to take a hike and they meant it. Have went to 4 banks and 2 credit unions in town and carefully explained my desire for cents, would by a nice CD and not return the coins but dump them in coinstar instead. Cold shoulder from all. Not interested, don't care, too busy, no thanks, it costs us money etc. etc.
Will Loomis or Coinstar sell bulk bags of 5000? Does anyone have a better way? Bankers are bankers, I'm not about to hassle them demanding "my rights" as their frying bigger fish but man something's gotta give I need 12 bricks a month to be content, would settle for 6 but it ain't happening.
In Kansas I ordered 12 bricks from the Navy Federal Credit Union every month and never got the sneer, here in Salem the banks could care less if you collect coins nope too bad.
Anyone got a productive suggestion where I can get gazzilions of cents for a reasonable fee and cost? I'm jonesn out here.

Credit Unions are sometimes more lenient than branch banks. Any Credit Unions in your town?

Yes an outfit called Maps (a VP said nope) and a smaller credit union that explained the process and had empathy but not the storage space or desire to mess with it.
I know it sounds wacky but I downloaded a Loomis cash exchange brochure and asked to be contacted. I doubt I would be the first roll seacher who wants to buy $500 a month in pennies. Plan 4.0 will be to identify the cost of a Loomis commercial account, approach a coin heavy local buissiness (laundry Matt, carwash, amusement center) and offer cash for them to order a gazzilions cents in bags for me. Brilliant!
I'm a genius! Seriously has anyone out there came up with a madcap way of feeding the need for 30,000 or more cents per month? I will give the forum an update when I speak to Loomis and then talk with some small coin driven buisinesses in the area. The volume I can search requires effort and I take a Coinstar loss of 11.9% when I dump so it looks like I will be paying one way or another. Hmmm maybe put an add in the paper and offer $12 for every 1000 cents with a disclaimer stating "your coins must be unsearched". Man I'm getting way out there again, I get this way when I can't search rolls.

You can try opening up a business account maybe they will be more lenient in ordering coins for you.

Yes definately, I will keep the forum updated after I hit the streets and talk to some local folks who handle bulk coins. I didn't ask the banks or credit unions about a buisseness account good point. Will keep the forum updated on my dealings with the Armored car people, can I say Loomis? I actually read all the forum rules today and oops somebody has been cutting me slack on my school behavior. Mr. Moderators, thanks for the leneancy I'm getting better slowly but surely.
I have the feeling this issue has been solved by heavy roll hunters long ago, I just have to figure it out. Keep the ideas coming folks.
Standby for further updates

I do find Banks are getting mad about asking for boxes of coins around here. My bank won't even do business with Halves. I have to get coin rolls of cents and nickel in 20 at a time and they still scorn me. But of course I live in a small town.

Looms responded, I was informed a polite NO. I offered the credit union a premium for the 5,000 count cent plastic bags from their customer coin dump machines and was told no.
I need Jane Hathaway, Milton Drysdale, and $40 million in the Beverly Hills bank. Jedd Clammpett would get coins I bet. Looks like I will open 5 savings accounts and be insistent in requesting 2 boxes a month from each bank. Chase put up with 6-8 boxes a month for 15 months. Now I get one every other week. It's doable but dang a $200 minimum balance, gas time and effort etc. And I still love it! I will never give up the good fight. Roll hunters unite!

Maybe go to a bank or CU which has a coin counter and offer them to buy the bags? One credit union sells all their bags in every denomination and the other does not.

Well no problem here in Maryland but sounds to me your problem is that you are getting too many and they do usually charge business owners a small fee for the service as I have been told.

I'll get boxes all day long in Detroit. Let me know if you want some and I can mail them out! Plus, I can't imagine doing $100 in pennies a week either!

Your right badthad $100 a week is alot but when I get in the zone listening to Coast2Coast AM with George Nory I'm a machine. Its an obsession and the more I learn the more I find, the more I find the...ah you get my drift. It started at age 8 and by age 16 had a nice little collection. Then in 1980 junk silver hit like $41.00 an ounce and kapow I sold every piece of silver I had to S and S Coins in Leavenworth, K'S. I had $800 in 1980 money I made $1.95 an hour washing dishes a shabby apartment above the bakery I worked in and a fake I.D.
I spent every penny of it on stupid stuff and beer. Despondent about life in general I joined the Army (since the money was gone ha!) there I found my home. Sure got yelled at and tortured and all but you got free food all you want and $501.00 a month. Only a poorboy could love the Army in 1980 and I met that requirement. 20 years for Uncle Sam 11 years civil service and somehow I managed to retire at 53.
In a nutshell badthad I ain't got nuthin better to do until deer season. Dang, whereas my loop? gotta get searching!
