I found this coin metal detecting. I thought it was a NE 12 Pence. But my coin doesn't have the NE. Now that it has been out of the ground for a week. It looks like another stamp that is XII. But it was stamped poorly, and it is smaller. The other side is very good. Please look at my link. And if anyone has any idea. Please pass it along. It is driving my crazy. And if you know what it is. And you have a write up about it. Please tell me the link. Thanks
Jason

Hi Jason,
Welcome to the forum. It's hard to tell from the pictures what sort of coin you have (or if it's a coin at all). It's pretty beat and you might just have to settle for not ever figuring out what it is. Good luck detecting!

It was fine yesterday. I see what you mean. It never did that before. How do I clean it up?

For what it's worth, my RedBook shows the roman numeral in the NE 12 pence being inside of a square, while your XII appears to be inside of a circle. Your might be something completely different, or it might be an even more rare type than the one shown in the RedBook! It would be worth taking that to an extremely knowledgable dealer and getting their opinion. Maybe you could find some via the internet and email them your photos?

Your coin is an Edward VI coin. The condition of the coin is not really good. This coin is from around the mid 16th century.
