100% bogus. The date is wrong, legends wrong, etc. This is my authentic 1857 Large Date by way of comparison (ex: McCawley/Grellman)

as well (actually, there is no doubt it is not a genuine coin). The rim is so far off, it isn't even funny. Almost looks like it's a "Tribute" coin. I sure hope you can return that puppy.

It definitely looks like a counterfeit.

Having a head style that was discontinued in 1843 on an 1857 coin s hould immediately raise red flags.

Wow. Looking at this again, I think the only things that are correct on the OP's coin are the empty fields, and the number of stars. Everything else, and I do mean everything, is wrong; small letters, date numbers, dentils, rim, wreath, just everything.
How much was the dealer asking for this replica token?

A dealer who sells this, or attempts to, is either completely unfamiliar with large cents or is trying to pass off their mistake to someone else.

First thing I saw while it was loading was the denticals were wrong, next thing was "A petite head 1857?" (Petite Head was used 1839 to 1843.) After that I didn't need to look for any other flaws (but there are more)

Yeah, I would get my money back and let the dealer know I would not be back. Like the others mentioned, either he has no idea what he is doing or is shady.

Quote: Darn, stay away from that "Local Dealer" I disagree ... An astute buyer can often acquire bargains from sellers who can't distinguish counterfeits from genuine coins. Sellers or "dealers" like this tend to care more about moving product than getting educated. Over the years, I've purchased many a cool coin/token variety from a seller who didn't care to consult a book, join a club or even ask an online forum; thereby, doing some homework.
