1896 Indian Head Penny Error, Any Info On Cause Of Error

With regard to your Indian Head cent, those big divots look like post mint damage from a sharp tool of some type. You can see how the material on the rev was flattened between the E and the N in CENT from the hit to the obv on the indian's temple. The damage detracts from the value of this coin, but it is still worth keeping!
