Hello, found this 1978 Lincoln Penny and noticed the date, the number one seems to have maybe been struck wrong?

Your thoughts please.

That is an odd one (get it? Odd one). It looks like a zipper. Only mint damage but I'd keep it just for a chuckle.

It is a damage caused by getting hit by a reeded coin.

Little Johnnie in the Garage with__________, this time an ice pick or similar instrument and a hammer. Johnnie seems to be getting more inventive in his methods of mass destruction!

I agree--little johnnie is off the hook for this PMD.

That kind of hit always look like bite marks to me.

I have to say -- it is the first time I have ever seen an entire number taken out that way. I'd keep it -- just to show to friends at my coin club.
