I always like rounds where I get to play my Japanese coins This time around I'm breaking out the ancients again! The objective of this round is to post your oldest, highest grade coin. I couldn't really figure out a point system, so we are going to use a popular vote, weighing age versus eye appeal and "wow" factor. Some signs of circulation are acceptable, but try to stick to XF or better, with original luster. To demonstrate: A fully mint state, lustrous denarius of Maximinus Thrax, 235-238 Or, we could go a little later with a little bit of wear: Lifetime tetradrachm of Alexander the Great (336-323 BC), XF and lustrous, but some wear and scuffs: Contest ends Monday night; announcing winner Tuesday morning. Let's see those old beauties!

Considering the only ancient coin I own could be mistaken for a green rock, I guess I'm out.

My oldest coins with minimal wear all seem to have bad strikes, so none of them have much of a 'wow' factor. Still, I will go with this Hungarian 1 denár piece that was minted from 1373 to 1382:

Here is my oldest coin with the best eye appeal: a Didrachm of Lucania, Velia. It was minted between 300 and 280 BC and NGC gave it a 4/5 on the both the strike and surface condition. It has since been liberated from that tomb.

Lovely coins everyone!
Today is the last day for submissions, so get those old beauties in!
Also as a reminder, this is a popularity contest, so even if your oldest high grade coin isn't an ancient or even medieval, still feel free to post it!
