Thanks all! I didn't expect to win that round. Sorry for the delay, but I have a good idea now. One of my favorite excuses I have heard collectors use is, "It only cost as much as a Big Mac meal!" So, this round will be a contest to post the coolest, most interesting, or prettiest coin we have that "cost as much as a Big Mac meal", let's say $7 or less, shipping not included. Boy Steve, your parameters for interesting items at less than $7 fits with just about 35% of everything I buy! It is really hard to pick one single item. Each has it's own, whether a slick PO1/FR2 for the Lowball 7070 or a good deal on a slab for the Jeff proof set or just some deals on error coins that would resell for 5-10 times what I paid (which ALWAYS makes me happy!) So here is a sampling of some of the most recent auction purchases I'm fond of, with the TOTAL cost (fees incl): A nice slabbed 1976S Jefferson....$0.49  A 15% off-set struck nickel with partial date...$3.17  A group of blank planchets, including quarter and dime...$6.90  Price these out sometime, you generally don't see these at this price anywhere! |

After some price research, I have a couple to post. They have both been posted before elsewhere. The first is a 1961 Jefferson nickel proof with nice pastel toning that is accurately captured in the seller's pics. Cost: $2  The second is the oldest U.S. coin I have. It is an 1816 Coronet large cent. Cost: $4  I think it would straight grade and, if so, that's worth $4.  @Dorado What was the price paid for that nice coin?
