Boy Steve, your parameters for interesting items at less than $7 fits with just about 35% of everything I buy!
Sounds like you should be the winner.

Great entries so far everyone! Just one more day left!

Now where is @Spence with his fascinating budget medievals, or January1May with his bargain bin Roman coins?

No more entries? Send in your votes everyone

I will be a bit preoccupied this weekend, so apologies for any delay from now until Monday.

Sorry, I'm currently at a vacation on the Baltic with only occasional internet access, and only accidentally found out that you were waiting for me.

Can you please hold on the end of the competition for a while (i.e. at least a few hours)? I do want to participate, especially since I was asked for by name...

Graceland. I'll post something to your competition within the hour.

Ok here is my oldest coin that I have purchased for less than $7. It is a cast cash from our own @TypeCoin971793 that I picked up a couple years ago when he was more active on CCF. It dates to the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC to 25 AD) and is attributed as Hartill 8.10.

As already mentioned, I was at a vacation on the Baltic. Yes, I did buy a few coins there, at the Kaliningrad weekly coin show. No, I didn't take any photos of them, and none were that interesting anyway.

The $7 boundary makes things a bit tricky though: I don't actually recall the exchange rate for when I bought most of my bargain Romans, and if we go by today's exchange rate it comes out to $3.20 or thereabouts, which is just plainly not true.

I did look up the price of a Big Mac meal, which turned out to be around $5 today, and no idea how much in 2013.

...Meh. I think 400 rubles would've been below $7 for most of the probable purchase range, and only up to $7.20 at the highest. (And it might well have been 350, which is definitely below.) Would that count?
If so, there's an obvious answer...

I won this mint state 1884 Victoria Young Head Farthing on ebay for 99 cents two weeks ago.

I was looking for the right place to post the photos. I guess this is it.

I'm a bit confused. I can't remember if I voted or not, and I am wondering about the entries after voting was supposed to start (which are excellent ).

Back in town

I only got one vote before the last four entries, so I say voting starts over fresh. I'll tally up and announce the winner tonight!
