Quote: You mean like early dollars To be precise, any Flowing Hair or Draped Bust silver, or Turban Head gold, from 1794-1807 (the contemporary copper coins did have denominations). I personally don't have any of those (way too expensive for my budget), and my initial idea - the 1977 Silver Jubilee crown - doesn't seem to count as "general circulation" (despite its huge mintage). Some of my Islamic coins look promising, but since I can't read Arabic, I don't know whether they actually state the denomination (in words that I can't read). With that in mind, my apparent best option is, weirdly enough, a coin that I have won a challenge here with before... Empire of Vietnam (Dai Nam), Nguyen dynasty, Thieu Tri, 1 Van, ND (1841-47). The upper and lower characters are the name of Thieu Tri; the left and right characters apparently translate to "coin of the realm". The denomination doesn't appear to show up anywhere.

I cannot make up my mind, so no vote sent. Do not let me hold this up. However, if you need a tiebreaker then let me know (privately) and I will do my best.
