This one was difficult. I had a couple of coins in mind from the start but then they ended up being under the mintage criteria. This 25 centimos from Venezuela meets all the criteria with a mintage of 36 million

Yet-Another-Forum-Game---Numismatic-Go-Fish!

Points
24 - 24 vowels around the coin
5 - horse
2 - silver (0.835)

31 points

Edited to add: I like that you established criteria for the coin and then only offer points to coins which meet the criteria. I think future winners could look to this model. Limiting the types of coins which can participate might open up some options for contests.

Nice coins...

Lettering around the peripheral of the coin counts...So Arkie's (O.Roty) and bd251 (BARRE) count..

The sun is a star but sorry I'm looking for a star shape so doesn't count.

Countries hit so far..Argentina, Venezuela and France...

I'm not hitting this one out of the park, but rather will have to settle (again) for participation points. Here is a half penny from Australia from 1943 (mintage of just north of 41 M). I count 15 acceptable vowels (i.e. excluding the V in GEORGIVS) plus a star for two more points: 17 total.

Two quick questions:

1) do the vowels have to all be legible, or is it enough that they're supposed to be there (even if they're worn away on my example)?

2) what's the date range on "ancient" (i.e. do medieval coins count)?

@january1may...

1)..Yep its fine if all the letters aren't legible but post a link to a more legible one for reference...
2)..Any coin dated before AD 2000 is acceptable..

Most of my horse coins don't have a lot of words - I think this is my best bet

Sorry Steve doesn't count it has less than the required mintage criteria..
Plus the legend WIENER ST BANCO ZEIT THEILUNGS MUNZ Z 30 K is written horizontally and vertically so wouldn't of counted..

Yeah, looks like my example should work.
Though even I have to admit that it's a serious stretch... there's a reason I wasn't sure if it would count.

Yet-Another-Forum-Game---Numismatic-Go-Fish! Yet-Another-Forum-Game---Numismatic-Go-Fish!

Bohemia, Royal Mint (Kutna Hora), Wenceslas IV (III), Prague groschen, 1378-1419.

The Numista example isn't that much better than mine. (I did choose the best of about 40 coins in that bin.) This auction is the best actual example I could quickly find.
For an idea of what a theoretical perfect example might have looked like, see this thick strike.

Obverse outer ring: DEI GRATIA REX BOEMIE
Obverse inner ring: WENCEZLAVS TERCIVS
Reverse: GROSSI PRAGENSES

I count 20 vowels (excluding the Vs).
There should, in principle, be stars on the reverse, but I can't see the relevant area (upper right, about 1-2 hours) well enough to tell whether this example has any.
Silver content about 61-63 percent. No horses. No date on either side.

I think there might be coins I have which would have counted for more points if they were eligible, but most of them probably aren't (in one particular case that comes to mind, I couldn't find the mintage anywhere, but it is almost certainly far below 20 million).
