Gincoin43 - The highest monetary value - but the coin must be the lowest circulating coin in current circulation.
Take New Zealand - coins are $2, $1, 50c, 20c, 10c, The lowest coin is the 10 cents.
The New Zealand Dollar is now worth 64 cents (Up from 61 cents a week ago) this means the 10 cent coin is worth 6.45 US cents.
On the other hand - Take a country like Turkey, Coins are 1 Lira, 50 Kurus, 25, 10, 5 Kurus
A Turkish Lira is now worth only 14 US cents, so a 5 kurus is worth only 0.7 of a US cent, the Kiwi coin is worth 9 times as much.
Then again Denmarks lowest coin 50 ore is worth 8 US cents. (No one has shown one yet if they want a entry!)
I am not allowing any obselete currencies like the Litas or currencies made obselete by the Euro, if the country uses the Euro now, the euro counts even if the iold currency still circulates and is legal tender.
I WILL accept 5 euro cents as even in 2016 a Dutch guy sent me a set of William Alexander coins and he told me the smallest in common use was the 5 cent. The 1 and 2 cent are set coins only and prices in the Netherlands end generally in 5 or 0 cents.

Quote: Is Lithuanian Litas not demonetized? If it's not I think a 1 centas would be the smallest denomination Lithuania switched to the euro a while back, but when I visited Vilnius in 2012 (a few years before the euro switch), I came back with pockets full of coins all the way down to 1 centas. Russia is a weird case here: the kopek denominations have not been minted since 2015 (since 2014 for the 1 and 5 kopek), but remain legal tender; of course, good luck finding a 1 kopek in circulation, and 5 kopek coins aren't common either, but 10 and 50 kopek coins are common at places that hadn't switched to full-ruble accounting yet, or at least still were a few months ago. Of course, even a ruble is like 1.4 US cents, so it wouldn't get any prizes anyway. I'm considering a Czech 1 koruna or Israel 10 agorot; not sure if I have any of the other good options.

Well guys, so far we have a lot of chit chat about Baltic currencies - but no coins except the 5 Euro cents.
Let's find those coins!

I have give up on the krona, maybe I gave it away. Here's a 50 ore, no longer made or used for normal transactions, but still exchanged at banks for higher denominations. $.055 usd

Ok, I've got a new entrant into this contest. As the 50 Ore are no longer circulating in Norway, this Krone from 2000 should be the lowest denomination coin circulating there. Looks like the value of 1 Krone today is 11¢.
