My 1860 is pretty bad, and I have several different 1861/62/63 pennies (not on the photo, which just shows the most worn of each date), one of which I suspect might be a rare variety. |

I wanted to discuss that octagonal penny, as someone did it years ago and I find it hilarious, some homejob with pliers and a blow torch or something, but the thread on mutilated coins got shut down as it was over a year since replies. I am happy with the lowball pennies as I got 90 dates for about $10 in total and the later pennies are much nicer. They make a good base for me to build on. Can I ask were you like   when you saw that octagonal penny? Many people when I show them it for the first time are the same reaction when I show them a photo of Prince in the Lovesexy era - just "What the hell?" Edited by Princetane

Well I just picked it up, its cupronickel, so only 5 points I guess This one is 4 points - participation only, same country, no animals other than lions and one denomination   |
