@princetane, ferns are not trees, shrubs or vines-not woody plants-at least not the north american ones.

You have obviously never seen a silver fern, its a woody shrub here. It is a species of Tree fern and peculiar to NEW ZEALAND only. Again, expand your mind beyond America source media.newzealand.com source, Tepapa.gov.nz Not only a tree, but also a symbol of our proud country.

If palm trees still count. I think I will take my 37 Participation points for the trees in the foreground. Guess I could count the rest if needed 1972 Iraq Diner

Biologically, flower petals are leaves. Do they count for this contest?

@Finn, maybe biologically there is a connection with leaves, but nobody ever calls a flower a leaf.
@Princetane, I live in Canada-but still North America.
OK, I have to concede that Silver ferns should count as much as palm trees.
However, as this what I was trying to avoid, I now have the dilemma of compound leaves:
Do you count each little leaflet as one or just the main leaf as one?
Having not thought of this loophole initially, I think that I must err on the side of generosity, so I must consider each distinct leaflet as one, as would each leaflet of a palm tree.
However, each leaflet has to be distinguishable. The first palm tree you could not separate them, maybe others you can.
So I think that @princetane and @keith are now the frontrunners (I can see most leaflets on the palm tree), but it may be hard to figure out who is ahead.
Does anybody care to count for me?

I did count the leaves on my coins.
The dollar had 58 and the cent 37. It was clearly listed on my post, why this is such a controversy is beyond me.
I have plenty of other conventional leaf coins if we are going to get all pernickety about it.

@Princetane, each of the 58 leaflets has sub-leaflets-or so it seems to me. If we ignore those then we can easily count 58. If we count the sub-leaflets then it becomes a more difficult counting process.
