UK Halfcrown 1816 92.5% silver 32.4mm

121 years x 3 = 363points.

Britain switched to 50% silver in 1920, but Southern Rhodesia stayed at sterling until 1941.

England 1670 Halfcrown 1670 92.5% Silver, size 33.1mm and weight 15.07 grams

249 years but only x 2 = 498 points.

This is because pre 1816 coins were larger and less precisely made.

Boom, goes the dynamite!

This is exactly what I hoped to see when I said "The coins do not have to be from the same country."

I will assume composition and size are not the same, but with the 1,201 year difference we still have a new leader.

1. Arkie - 1201
2. Princetane - 498
3. spruett001 - 399
4. Princetane - 363
5. keith12 - 0

Does this mean that a Roman Republican Denarius from 206BC-195BC would match up with a Hungarian denar, French deniers, or even British pre-decimal pennies (especially silver ones)?

Kingdom of Netherlands -- 1 ducat, 1928:

diameter = 21 mm, 0.983 Au, 3.494 g

Dates differ by 320 years -- composition and weight are about the same, but diameter is much different.

I am going to say no. Although the names are related, they are not the same. Whereas I can say the dinar examples have the same name and related history. So, thalers with dollars would also be excluded (as are all other derivative name).

Apparently so. Wikipedia redirects one to the other, so for that we would have to accept them as related. It looks like the Macedonian denar is the only one spelled differently.

This is an opportunity for me to learn something as well.

If only the name matters, what about those (crummy) Swedish Livonian Solidus coins and the gold solidus coins from Constantinople? I don't think these are related at all.
