Although I amended my comment to say "same name and related history," I would accept those if they are indeed the same name. It would be a good twist and certainly worth a discussion about whether or not they borrowed that name from history or happenstance. I do appreciate how we probe the boundaries of what is and is not. That being said, if you have this pair, let us see them!

Quote: That being said, if you have this pair, let us see them! Byzantine Empire -- AU solidus, 602AD-610AD: Dominion of Swedish Livonia / Riga -- 1 solidus, 1658: Date difference = 1658-610 = 1048 years, no additional points for size or composition.

Here's my best denar combination: Duchy of Bohemia, 1 denar, 1085-1092: Republic of (North?) Macedonia, 1 denar, 2000: Date difference = 2000 - 1092 = 908 years

Someone with a good UK collection could pair up an early penny (1250-1272 for example) with a modern Maundy 1 penny coin. This should get double points.

Challenge accepted Left: Philip III Arrhidaeus AR drachm, 323-317 BC Right: Gadhaiya Paisa type 1.3.1 AR Drachm, c. 1040-1075 AD Both are about as close in size as you can get with hammered coins (about 17mm). Both are 90+% silver (based on Maheshwari's analysis of similar coins). Unlike his younger brother, Philip III drachms were not commonly made posthumously, so this coin was made no later than 317 BC. Sadly, the dating of Gadhaiya is largely guesswork, but I can say with relative certainty that 1.3.1 was probably made after the death of Chittaraja (fl. 1022-1035) who copied the detached chin bust type of late series 1.2.5, and before the reign of Somalladevi (wife of Ajayadeva, r. 1110-1135) who copied series 1.5 on her coinage. This coin is unlikely to have been made before 1035. They are part of the same denominational family, as the drachm passed from Alexander > Seleucids > Parthians > Sassanians > Huns > India, where it came to an end in the 1350s, albeit as a miserable copper coin by that time. Anyway, 1,357 years x 3 for same metal and size = 4071

Great seeing all the old coins guys - things that spread millenia wow.
Could do the penny challenge, but don't have any British coins before 1635.
The best possible would be someone using a penny of Offa from 778 - 795AD and putting it with a 1970 Proof penny or a 1967 one if you want to be pernickety (Ireland has a 1968 penny) - not a New pence though as these are worth 2.4 old pennies.
Before Offa, the Saxon silver coins were smaller and known as Thrymsas and Sceattas and the penny system did not come in, until Offa. Also Offa was only the King of Mercia (Western England, the Black Country) and all English coins came in only with Athelstan (924) or Edgar (959) depending on who you believe.
For those of you wanting to go down the denarius route, there was a Britannia capta denarius from 43AD. but this was not minted in Britain (Likely Rome or Lutetia - Paris). The first Roman coins minted in Britain I think were in the time of Nero (Around 65AD).
Celtic coins were minted from 80BC but were in unit and staters not denarii.
