Am I allowed to post my coins in multiple posts? It's going to take me a while to find (and possibly take pics of) appropriate examples for 1 and 3, but (having looked up some dates) I could do 2 quickly.
[EDIT: fixed typo]

Ok well thx to all for your willingness to give this challenge a shot. I'll keep it going for another couple days with these three time points, but next time will really focus on something that everyone can participate fully. I agree with @jbuck that multiple posts are no problem.
Here is the leaderboard:
1. @spruett: 1 point 2. @pt: 1 point 3. @jbuck: 1 point

OK, here's the first part... Hungary, Lajos I, denar, 1346-49 Huszar 529?, Numista 74695The first pic should have been rotated 90 degrees anticlockwise (it's a crown). I have a few 14th century coins with more precise dating, but I don't recall offhand if any of them are in the exact right range. [EDIT: fixed the typos. Fortunately it was the corrected version that was eligible for the challenge.]

Thanks! I was wondering what to post for the Justinian period, and this one fits right in. Justinian I, AE nummus, Carthage mint, 539-541. Reverse: VOT XIII or VOT XIIII within wreath (I cannot read which one it is). I got this from a bargain bin, paid somewhere around $5. I actually hoped it was Germanic... still don't have any post-Roman Germanic coins (aside from a few imitations that I hadn't been able to attribute yet). I suspect you paid a lot more for yours - it's in far better quality.
