Originally, I wanted to do a "match the country/denomination/date" round, but I ran into a bit of a problem with the coin I wanted to use, so this will be another date-based challenge.

The challenge coin: a 1 solidus piece from Reval (modern-day Tallinn, Estonia), which was made from 1568 to 1592.



The problem with this coin is that, if you match the place this coin was minted for, you probably have this coin. Also, the date poses a little bit of a problem, so this challenge will be mostly about date ranges.

The points do not matter that much, but since this coin from Reval was made for 24 years, here is how the points will work:

4 points: an exact match.
3 points: a coin whose date can be narrowed down to a range of 24 years.
2 points: a coin whose date can be narrowed down to two or more years.
1 point: a coin whose date can be narrowed down to one year.

Basically, if no one gets four points, the year-range closest to 24 years will win. If someone posts a coin whose date can be narrowed down to 25 years, that is a one year difference. If someone then posts a coin whose date can be narrowed down to 23 years, that is still a one year difference, but the other person would be in the lead since they posted first.

The coin itself is not that rare, so an exact match would not surprise me (I think I have five different ones).

Anyways, I hope that all makes sense. The round will end on February 24 at around 10:00 PM forum time. And the round will start now!

This attribution is (Georges) Depeyrot (3rd edition) 762, which was supposedly made from 840-864, if this book is right. Depeyrot 763 was made from 864-875. The NGC holder has the entire date range for both types, 840-875 (36 years).
