Simple solution......

buy a digital camera with the macro feature and toss out the scanner.

There's another seller (lighthouse) that also uses a scanner for his pictures.

His pictures are far worse.

Greg's a great guy, but his scanned pictures is definitely doing him more harm than good.

Greg, if you're reading this, please see my previously posted response.

Greg Jones (Lighthouse) generally does not rely on ebay for moving his high end coins, and I highly doubt this is doing him any harm. Think of it more like a peering through a window front display at his inventory,. His reputation speaks for itself. If you want a coin he has, you know it will not be cheap, and you know it will have good eye-appeal.

Could not have been said any plainer and I agree 100%..except maybe "buy a GOOD digital camera and keep the coin parallel to the lens".

..and...

Take a lot of extra digital photos and only keep the clear and in focus ones..

I have an old CanoScan 5600F that works extremely well with coins. Anything too shiny tends to glow and flare up but matte surfaces are OK. It goes all the way to 19200 dpi with interpolation so this is really useful for close-ups for varieties or errors.
