Hi everyone. This is my first post. I inherited a 1922 Peace dollar. I haven't seen pictures of any that appear to be peeling or chaffing on the rims like this one. Regardless, I love this coin. Thanks for any input you kind folks have!

If you are talking about the spot on the obverse rim between E & R, that kind of looks like glue.

Thank you both. Should I try to clean it somehow?

You can soak it in pure acetone (in the paint section) and that may remove it without harming the coin.

Your coin may have been shellacked in the past, if it has a yellowish tint. Normal coloring should be a light to darker grey, it is a silver coin.

I agree, paint or glue and acetone should be able to remove it. Just be aware that the coin surface below this paint/glue has been protected for an indeterminable amount of time. It will not have toned evenly with the rest of the coin.

Looks like glue, possibly a necklace or belt buckle piece at one time or money clip
