Hey guys and gals, I'm right into coins at the mo and have several sought after collectables. I currently own 7 Edinburgh 1 pound coins and have 3 complete sets of the capital cities. Does anyone know how the value of these coins will behave when they go out of circulation next month?
It's not all about profit I understand but the only reason I have these coins in particular is to sell them on. Will they go up in price or stay the same? Please someone with a bit of know help! I can't find info on this topic anywhere :( thanks a million. B

I suspect the value will go up as people will no longer be able to find them in their change. By how much I don't know, it really does depend on demand.

Potentially they could go up, potentially they could go down. You have the number of coins put into circulation, chances are most of these coins are out of circulation, so they won't become rarer. Maybe people get turned off coin collecting, though the way The Royal Mint is playing things, people getting all excited things could be rare, you never know. These coins aren't rare, but they're not common either. You're basically taking a little punt and it may pay off for you, you can't really go wrong, but the right time to sell is unknown.

The Edinburgh one went up as was published in the daily mail and mirror............ they hyped it up as being extremely RARE.
From that day some people were paying £30 for one as daft as it may sound.
IMO that was the time to sell as they will never hit those kind of prices again.
Although they were the scarcest of the four there are alot more available than collectors looking.
Just having a quick look there are 3,577 listed on ebay UK and selling for between £6 & £10.
