Hello,

I really struggle with doubling; is there a site that explains coin doubling with clear pictures?

I have trouble finding pictures that clearly shows each DBL type, as well as explain each type that anyone can understand.

I found this coin that shows 3 levels, it looks like the top is a machine DBL, but the one in the middle and bottom look like a DBL error. I hope the picture provide a good enough view to see what it has.

Based on my previous submissions; I don't have any high hopes. :}

Any help with the coin would be great; but the website question is more important to me. Thanks for the help!

Shawn

Your coin has Machine Doubling and Die Deterioration. Not a doubled die.

Here's a good read about Machine Doubling on these quarters: http://goccf.com/t/294649

And here are some websites that have good pics of doubled dies:

Thank you Tanman!
There is so much out there online it's sometimes difficult to find sites like this.

Is the top layer the MD and the two under the die-deterioration?
There pictures make it difficult to see the 3rd layer.

Thanks!

Rest in Peace

Shawn, good name, same as #1 grandson!

Wexlers http://www.doubled dies.com has good pix, varietyvista.com and coppercoins.com are all great references. I learned about the differences at first in a book by Charles Daughtrey called"Looking through Lincoln Cents". Easy read with pix, good section on doubled dies and RPM's. Once I get my computer back up(next week?) I'll be able to post pix again and be able to finish my "tome" called "Coin IDing for Dummies", yellow cover and all. In it I'm incorporating pix and text on differences of true doubling and MD, as well as true vs false error coins. Once its done, its free digitally to everyone. Hope to have it done by next month.

Thanks Crazyb0,

You rock! I can't wait to see this when it's ready!

Is there a way to let me know when it's ready? I don't want to miss it, or forget to look out for it.

I tried to email you, but I don't have enough posts to send email.

Thanks
Shawn
