Dogpatch USA Amusement Park token White metal, 28mm, 7.21gm Obverse: Comic strip character Li'l Abner facing right DOGPATCH USA DOGPATCH, ARK. 72648 LI'L ABNER © (Copyright) 1968 CAPP ENTERPRISES, INC. Reverse: Comic strip character Jubilation T. Cornpone riding horse and holding sword DOGPATCH USA DOGPATCH, ARKANSAS. 72648 © (Copyright) 1968 CAPP ENTERPRISES, INC. The Dogpatch USA amusement park opened in 1968 and closed in 1993. The park was located near a town called Marble Falls in Arkansas. The park was based on the American "Li'l Abner" comic strip and it's characters. "Li'l Abner" was written by Al Capp and ran from 1934 to 1977, appearing in many newspapers. It was about a clan of hillbillies living in the mountain village of Dogpatch, Arkansas, and was the basis for several films and television shows. Al Capp owned part of Dogpatch USA. A statue of the local hero Confederate General Jubilation T. Cornpone was located at the park. Supposedly Gen. Cornpone was so incompetent that Union soldiers paid for the statue.

It looks more like history with a little jest, not politics considering the fictional nature. Interesting.

Iggle graffiti was plastered across Australia in the early 1960's. I saw the film when I was a teenager. Who remembers any of the songs out of L'il Abner ? Forget the politics Have a laugh instead! Still an avid fan of the contemporary British radio show: The Goon Show - (Milligan Sellers and Secombe)

@WillieBoyd2 .... Enjoyed your post! Quote: No politics, please. The PC police are at it, again, it seems. Shall we now ban all political medals, patriotic Civil War tokens and L'il Abner pieces from the forum and/or proscribe what's can and can't be discussed? While we're at it, why not ban any/all tokens/medals that promote the First Amendment?

Quote: No politics, please. Please define which political speech we should limit. Is it okay to discuss the elimination of the cent and/or dollar bill? Proposed commemorative designs? How online purchases will or won't be taxed? Just what is out of bounds based on "politics"?

I see why the remark was made, I came in here fully expecting to move this topic to GD based on the topic title. (Which has been changed from the political clickbait) Tearing down a statue has nothing to do with coins. Quote: Just what is out of bounds based on "politics"? I would expect the answer to that to be common sense. If it's numismatically related and the conversation stays civil it's fine. Argue the point not the poster. Unfortunately we have some that cannot remain civil and things need to be dealt with sometimes.

Coins, history, politics, etc. all go hand in hand. Real statues are being torn down, and other real images likely will follow. The fictional statue in L'il Abner was likely inspired by this Andy Jackson statue pictured on a Civil War token ....

I see nothing in the original post that was not directly related to the amusement park token and its history. It is particularly amusing (pun intended) that both the general and the history of the statue are completely FICTIONAL. Here is the actual statue depicted on the token.

I did not see the original title but I have one of these tokens as well. Found it laying in the dirt outside of our hunting club's lodge in the woods near El Dorado, Ark. when I was 8 or 9 years old. Always wondered about the park and its history but references are difficult to come by and short on detail. Thanks to OP for "fleshing out" some of the information about this token.
