Now in those slab pictures the toning doesn't look that bad.

In hand, the coin hasn't changed much Mark. It looks about the same. However, from across the room the coin looks MS69!

The only thing I didn't like was breaking him out of that soap bar slab. I kinda like those small older slabs. Oh well, he's in the Dansco now.
Rest in Peace

That's always mixed emotions for me. I've got a pile of Wheaties waiting to be broken out & placed in my Dansco albums. One of them is an old ANACS.

Here's a pile of debris from a recent rescue for your viewing pleasure...

dave700x- Yes, I cringe as well with the thought of breaking them out. I just take the hammer, close my eyes and see what happens.

Are you taking pictures of the entire slab before you break it open? Saving the bar code tabs and putting them in the back of your Dansco?

i will be somewhat of an outlier and say that I actually liked the toning on this coin.
and I think that at 63 it is under-graded. Old slab. Could easily go higher today.

No, I'm not taking a picture of the full slab before. I just took a photo of the coin out of the slab.
Yes, I save the label to place in the back of the album.

Sounds like a plan. I guess I go a few extra steps to "try" and maintain the integrity of the coin after it's broken out. I realize once the coin is out, there goes the grade guarantee. Although, many say buy the coin not the slab. I'm not a grader, so I depend on the TPG'ers.

I take pictures of the entire slab, scotch tape the bar code tabs to the pictures and put them in the back of the Dansco.
