At a show posting on CCF, again. The run up in gold has really brought some interest in 1/10th oz American Eagle gold. Not so much in silver this month, though. Some interest in actual numismatic material this time around as some collectors have stopped by. I finally sold my War Nickel set I thought was cheap at $65 when I bought it, but could only get $72 for it. A nice 1930 standing lib quarter I bought for $65 in an ebay auction, I sold for $80. No big ticket items yet, but sold a little gold, made a few bucks.

One of the best reasons to have a table is that you get to buy from other dealers at wholesale prices. I went through a vest pocket dealer's inventory and bought a bunch of nice nickels and a Walker at well back of bid. An NGC PF 64 1942-P Nickel for $51 was the best deal of the day.

Went to the Polish Numismatic Society coin show Sunday. Didn't have a table or bring a laptop, so I'll continue this "blog" today. My mission was to hunt for 90% silver as well as proofs and proof sets. I bought a lot of 90%, including Walkers and Mercs at 12.4x face. I bought some mixed at 12x face, but I like the Walkers and Mercs as you can sometimes sell them individually, though they do bring a slight premium of ~+0.4x face. I was concerned about how much of it I was buying including a deal of 4 1/10 oz American Eagle $5 Golds at $130. Then in the morning Gold is up $15 and Silver up $0.35, so I wish I'd bought more.

So I now have ~200 Walkers and ~100 Mercs in average grades so if anybody needs any dates, let me know before I take them to a show and let people pick through them.

There was a dealer there selling $100 face dimes, mixed Roosies and Mercs at 11.8 x which is below melt (12.3x), but at the time it would have wiped out the cash I had on hand. Note to self - bring more cash to Poly.

Numismatically, I bought a 1917 Ty I SLQ, nice slider unc, a ICG 41 Proof 65 Nickel for a steal, and replaced the BU War Nickel set I had sold in the previous show.

I went through proof sets from the 60's and found not too much, but there was a 1961 with what looked like a decently frosted Franklin half in it, though the nickel and cent were kind of hazy. And the cello looked bad, but I have a practiced eye and could tell the stuff was all on the cello, not the coin. I bought it for $18 and opened it up last night. The half was deep cameo. I took a photo, put it on ebay, and sold it for $40 within 2 hours. Another dealer had picked through the sets before me and passed on that one because the nickel and cent looked hazy.
