Been buying coins for years off of Craigslist, ebay, acquaintances, etc. While I'm started to notice I have a bunch of what I call "fodder" Or coins/items I have no use for. What do you guys do in similar situations? For example, I bet I have 2-300 70-90s mint and proof sets alone. They're not garbage per se, but where to get rid of them?!?! Thanks Derek

ebay will be your best bet.

You need 250 quality posts to sell on here so that's out of the question.

Get your posts up and sell them here. I would take the best of the best mint coinc and put them in 2x2s. High MS coins do have some value. Proofs, well I'm not a fan of cashing those in ever. Maybe sell them as sets or break them up. Cash in the rest.
There's a section here for trading, once you have enough posts that may be a good avenue also.

You could join a coin club and sell/trade there or ebay or craigs list. John1

I have acquired a lot of numismatic 'junk' over the years, as collateral acquisitions in auction job lots. When I kick the bucket, those unwanted and unloved coins will be re grouped by an auctioneer, and re sold, along with the rest of my collection. Proceeds to my kids.

To the original PM - Maybe ebay, or take everything to your LCS and get out. More important, stop buying stuff you don't really want and set some true collecting goals.

Frog nailed it. Without goals you are an accumulator, not truly a collector.

Unless you need the money, keep them as part of your collection.

Frog, I feel the best bang for the buck and getting the stuff I want is by buying the whole collection. I've had numerous people say the called me over another ad because it says I will buy everything they have. It sucks that I have to buy their 41-74 penny books and proof sets (which obviously you don't pay much for) But do smile when they pull out the 10,20, 50, etc rolls of 90% they were putting aside as well. Derek, sounds like you are financially able to afford shelling out that kind of dough, more power to ya. But like the Frog says, are you a collector?. I can see your collecting collections, not building one necessairily. Probably can put together a dynomite getup, cool. If you have mint sets in order say 1971-99, or by decade consign to a local auction. You flow some cash and clean your shelves yto do it all over again!(at least that's what my wife says!)

I would try a coin show or a local coin shop. Failing that, ebay would be my second choice. I would never consider Craigslist.

odd ball coins: I don't have a lot of them, so I have a little box that I drop them in. extra coins: at the latest local coin show I went to, the dealers I asked didn't want them (Buffalo and Liberty V nickels: partial folders with extra coins) I will just hand onto them for now.

Take a picture of them in a lot and put them on ebay.
