This is my last post tonight I will have to post my 300 Wheat penny lot tomorrow because I haven't finished taking pictures of them. I pulled these 5 from the box because I originally thought they were damaged due to the streaking on them. While online I cam across an old CCF thread about "Woodies" and realized that these coins are not damaged. Do improper alloy coins add more value to a coin when on a semi key date or uncirculated coin? Are the grades accurate for these coins? Any worth slabbing? I appreciate everyone's opinions! The 1921 s looks cleaned and the 1931 is nice except it has a scratch underneath "Trust" The grades are from the previous owner 1911s VF 1921s AU50 1926MS64 1930MS65 1931MS63 Edited by Buckwill311 08/21/2017 11:51 pm

I don't think some of them are woodies. The 1926 isn't, lines are reversed direction. Some like the 1911S looks doctored, notice around the date, the colors stop across top, either this is a chemical cleaning gone bad, which I suspect, or somebody has tried to "tone" these like a woodie. Woodies generally have smaller lines and aren't so symmetrical, these look painted on. BTW, 1911S is high grade, too bad its damaged.

I think the 1921-S may be more of a Lamination issue.
Nice one CM :)

I'm not sure if they are all woodies or not but, that 1921-S has nice eye appeal to me and looks like a true woody.

So is there any added value to these coins?

The 1921 S is very nice but has an unnatural color that makes me think it was cleaned.

they are woody's , but don't have that much more added value over because of it .

Oh ok so none of them have more value due to the streaks? At least it doesn't lower the value like I originally thought lol

They are a collectible in their own right. Some collectors love 'em. Others don't. Search ebay for an idea.

Oh and quick question is the toning natural on the 1926 penny because it has pink highlights which I didn't think could be possible on a penny

I Might be wrong ,but I don't think they are woodies . The 11-s and 21-s looks like a kindergarten water paint project that has dried onto these coins . Others simply look like a transition from red to red & brown ( naturally ).

Would a soak in acetone help the 1911s ? The 1921s is already cleaned so nothing is really going to help it now

Acetone won't hurt. Just be sure it's pure acetone, washed with pure water, and air dried. Don't get tempted to rub them.
Love your 21-S.
