Hello all,
I have a 1979 Susan B Anthony dollar souvenir set, and the P dollar is a Wide Rim. I'm having trouble deciding on whether I should keep it together as a set, or if I should send the Wide Rim off to be certified. Any help anyone can give me on this, as far as the value of the set with the Wide Rim intact is, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Just leave it in the set. The wide rim SBA is not really worth enough to justify the expense of having it graded by a TPG- your grading fee will be as much or more than the coin is worth.

Could anybody post a picture of what a SBA wide rim looks like compared to a regular SBA. Google images justt isn't finding that specific picture for referance. I have a bunch of 1979's so maybe I have a wide rim and dont even know it.

Thanks for your help biokemist....you're right, I'd probably be better off spending that money getting my Type 2s slabbed.

High grade examples are pretty tough but if it's a typical coin then it might be better in the set. Only about 3% of these sets I've seen have the near date and attrition is huge on both types. This is one of the few I'd suggest might be best left in the original packaging. It's a $15 set wholesale now.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.
