Bought this off of ebay - threw a 16$ bid on it and actually won it. Any thoughts? It's kinda dark and probably cleaned at one time? Maybe time for some Verdi-Care?

I wouldn't do a thing to it, not even acetone. That's an original crusty tone. Playing with it is almost certainly a bad option.
Great buy. That old of a presentable piece at that price is a win.

Looks original & uncleaned. Verdi-care soak would be good, but otherwise, I'd leave it alone. Well bought at the price you paid. :)

looks pretty decent for that price. Verdicare would not hurt it but I am not seeing a great need for it with this coin.

I've played with enough copper that I've gotten to the point, regardless of the chemical type, that older large cents, Half Cents, and Two Cents - I just leave alone. Having seen tons of cleaned pieces that will never recover to become an acceptable color again, I'm always cautious in my own recommendations. Once chemicals, or even pure water, affects the color, you can never go back. Yes Verdi-care and pure acetone can sometimes be quite helpful. But I would prefer to see folks learn what those treatments do with crusty copper Lincoln cents.

I don't see acetone helping this coin at all, VerdiCare might but I doubt it. Frankly I think it looks fine as it is. It looks "honest".
