Newbie coin collector here. I need some help in determining whether the following coin is cleaned or not. The coin shows some wear, but seems remarkably shiney (although it could be the lighting).

Any tips on checking if auctioned coins are cleaned or not? I've read to look out for scratches etc. but I'm still new to this.

Doesn't look right. I'll pass as it seems there was some junk in the first place although it might not be a typical coin that you'll find everyday. I'll do a bit of search to see how scarce it is in the first place.

The picture seems washed out from too much flash and there isn't enough detail for me to tell definitively if it has been cleaned. The spot around the one is disconcerting though. If it were my money I'd probably pass on this coin.

Interesting coin, but I agree it looks like something was done to it.

Cleaned or not it has problems and isn't worth half what the seller is asking in my opinion.
