I was wondering if anyone can help me out. I think I have a die error cent but I can't find any examples of it. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Looks like the cent was attacked by some wire cutters, PMD I moved your post to the appropriate section for the proper attention.

PMD. Not a error. Worth 1 cent.

It first glance I thought it was struck by something also or maybe cut into, but upon further examination I noticed that there are raised lines on it consistent with a cracked die, also on the Lincoln memorial there is some of the design missing but no damage at that location, also the edge isn't damaged so I don't think it was snipped with cutters. Could it be a shattered die?

Sorry but it's still PMD. Not a cracked or shattered die. This is what a Shattered Dies actually looks like. All credit goes to CaptainFwiffo. Original link: http://goccf.com/t/99435. In your case, this is not a Shattered Die. Just PMD, making it worth one cent.

Could very well be a lawnmower mulching blade, but I agree with either side cutters, heavy duty tin snips or what I used to use as a telephen man, was my lineman's scissors. Used to thrill little kids by taking a cent and cutting it in two...with scissors yet!. Used to give halves to people asking them for really what their thoughts were worth due to inflation... Here, learn about mint errors: http://www.error-ref.com

E&V is right again - just some PMD! Who is this "Little Johnnie" I keep reading about? I thought he fell overboard on the boat that was catching crabs on the Discovery channel show?

I agree that it is PMD. The "raised lines" are displaced metal from whatever process/implement caused the damage. There are many different tools that would create this effect but, in the end, it's just damage. Keep searching!
