The RCM is producing a new bullion piece to mark Canada's 150th anniversary; it will be released later this month. I like the design and will likely pick up a few.

I think a proof version of the coin would be a popular item - I know that I would likely purchase one if it was available for $80 CAD or less. Maybe it will be part of the October release?

I hope so. And please make a gold version too.

But I saw a RCM web ad placement the other day saying the "150th Anniversary of Canadian Confederation" would be the last proof coin for Canada 150. I can no longer find that ad.

Nice bullion coins and not huge premiums....at least not yet.

I'll pick up bullion versions of these - very nice. Proof versions, if they come out I'll wait for a few years and pick up at half price at an auction somewhere.

Finally got the bullion version of these in hand (still don't know if there will be a proof version). Really nice looking coin - better than any maple and wildlife series I've had.

Question. Has anyone had milk spots with the maples since the RCM put on the additional security features (radial lines)? I'm really hoping my coins do not develop milk spots. Had a number of the wildlife series and many of them suffered from milk spots even though they were in airtights.

I actually swore off RCM bullion because of this but the new 150th voyaguer design is just too tempting.

Try storing RCM coins with moisture absorbing pills that are in medicine bottles, your local pharmacy usually throw them out, it does help.

Just read from the RCM website that the gold version (2017 $150 Pure Gold Coin - Canada 150 Special Edition Voyageur) has a "limited volume of only 15,000 coins."

Is this too few for a gold bullion coin?

I thought there were going to be 500,000 of the silver bullion coin (which is low compared to maples or their Birds of Prey series) and the gold coin I think is 25,000 and I do not know how that compares to the RCM's Call of the Wild coins in the credit card style holders.

If it is just 15,000 that's not to bad for a bullion coin that does not have a stupid premium to it.

I'd like to buy some silver ones as gifts.

Anyone knows what the package is like for silver bullion coins? Do they come with a capsule?

I will buy from Kitco, since its office is nearby.

RCM bullion coins never comes in the capsule / package.
[Unlike Proof versions and "replica" versions]

in the past, some limited mintage Privy SMLs came in capsule with case...

Hopefully, this coin will be re-issued in Proof version, imo, will be the best 2017 Anniversary coin

Thanks for your replies.

I guess I will have to purchase capsules separately.

I also found a $10 wooden box on Canadian C&C that may match with the silver coin. I'm not sure about its glass lid though. But that's the only inexpensive wooden case I found.

According to Kitco, the mintage for the silver voyageur is 250,000.

I also saw a Maple Leaf Silver bullion coin with Canada 150 privy. Anyone knows the mintage for this one?
