sel_69l Bedrock of the Community Australia 21786 Posts	Posted 09/01/2017 9:13 pm It follows that if all dated of American gold have been faked, that the strong possibility exists that these were faked as well. It would have been much better if it had been photographed naked. XRF testing would help to authenticate, but in the first instance, it should be checked accurately for weight. I am NOT familiar in how to spot good quality fakes with these, but from the pictures so far, it looks quite OK to me. I can see part of another $2 gold in the picture of the the reverse, but cannot see any extra part of a coin in the picture of the obverse. I don't quite understand what is pictured here. If cuff link(s), then gold value only. As a pair, more than $200, as a single, less than $200. I think that you may have well got yourself a good coin at a low price in the condition that I can see here. Should be checked. Here's hoping! The coins in the cufflinks linked to by TheNickelGuy show the usual markers. Is there a new generation of Chinese counterfeit $2 gold?
