Hard to tell from the pictures but the denticles look too perfect to me. Would need to know the weight and size. Should be 3.33g and 17.98mm diameter. If it is real then the seller is basically giving it away as it looks at least AU.

Maybe it is actually a pair of cufflinks with the backs taken off.
Look at this listing.

hmmmmmmm, I guess I was right to be cautious about that. the only way anyone would sell gold coins at THAT price, would be if he was desperate for money or if he didnt know what the coins were..................thanks!

It follows that if all dated of American gold have been faked, that the strong possibility exists that these were faked as well.

It would have been much better if it had been photographed naked.
XRF testing would help to authenticate, but in the first instance, it should be checked accurately for weight.
I am NOT familiar in how to spot good quality fakes with these, but from the pictures so far, it looks quite OK to me.

I can see part of another $2 gold in the picture of the the reverse, but cannot see any extra part of a coin in the picture of the obverse. I don't quite understand what is pictured here. If cuff link(s), then gold value only. As a pair, more than $200, as a single, less than $200.

I think that you may have well got yourself a good coin at a low price in the condition that I can see here.

Should be checked. Here's hoping!

The coin shown by Dorado is a Chinese counterfeit, it has none of the markers we are familiar with.
The coins in the cufflinks linked to by TheNickelGuy show the usual markers.
Is there a new generation of Chinese counterfeit $2 gold?
