You really answered your own question. It really is ....wait for it...a.....dime!

Its been smashed, hammer? Probably. Looks like nail polish as well on edge. Haven't a clue why discolored, chemicals maybe? Son may say a " Dryer Coin" (look up in glossary), but don't think so, coin is flattened not rim rolled. Little Johnnie in the Garage has really worked this one over!

Looks like a bezel was placed around the coin, and it has been damaged. Only worth a dime.
