These look more original but lower grade than the others you have shown us. The breast and the leaves look very worn. You are on the right track. I think you are looking for good details with attractive patina. So far it's been one or the other. Hold out for both.

The 1857 is a particularly attractive problem-free example with high eye appeal and would bring above-average bids. It is a good circulated type coin. The Lib Seated series in general is rife with problem coins, so problem-free examples with attractive surfaces are keepers in my book, whether the sharpness grade is G4 or MS65.

For the first, I am thinking VF-20; the second one looks a little small in the pictures provided, but I am thinking VF-30 for that one. And out of those two, I like how the second one looks more (though the first still looks quite nice).

Yes numismatic. I enjoy the coins with that rustic looking circulated patina. Some coins I like in Au-ms. But these and some others especially half dollars look nice with this circulated cameo I like to call it.

I will keep these on my radar until I find better ones

Both are nice original coins and worth stashing away for awhile.

I guess this means you have to create two parallel collections with differing parameters. Don't you hate it when that happens?

I agree with IndianGoldEagles assessment and grades. You kinda need both if you're putting together a type set so it shouldn't be an either/or decision. I like the look of the 2nd one more though.
