So I have a thick 1982 P dime that weighs 2.4 grams. Standard I believe is 2.268. It is thicker than a standard dime, but I cannot find anything that might match this as an error. Or is this within standards for a dime. In really good condition and clean. Wondering if anyone knows if this is struck on a different planchet or just a standard dime. See photos. It's not a lot thicker than standard, but I felt a difference as soon as I picked up.
This is my first post, so I apologize if I'm asking a stupid question. Started recently in coins. Thanks for the help everyone.

to CCF. Should be 2.27grams. Yours is within mint tolerance.Looks thicker because it has a Rim Fin.

I might also recommend against touching the faces of a Coin with your fingers. The natural oils on your hands can and will do damage to most coins.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if it was within limits or not. Just so much thicker than all the others I compared it to. Thanks for this info John1, and thanks for the Welcome!

Maximum tolerance is 2.36 grams. If your scale is only good to one decimal place that would be rounded up to 2.4 So we really can't say if it is within tolerance or not, but if it is out of tolerance it is by a very small amount. Not enough to be worth a premium.
