Can someone hello grade this coin? There is an extra rim around the edge and I don't know if it adds or detracts from its appeal.

Looks to be a high au coin possibly low unc
The marks your talking about can be 1 of 2 things

The 14D had many coins struck on buckled dies hence the extra marks by the rim of the coin this is my guess OR
It was an ex jewelry piece that was in a bezel which caused the marks from it being in it....remember gold is soft.

Either way the 14D has the 3rd lowest mintage in the series behind the 14P and the key date the 11D. Just my take.

Do these marks detract from it's value?

If it's from a buckled die then it won't affect its value. If it is from a bezel aka jewelry damage then the coin has a slight premium over gold value. Getting it graded from PCGS, NGC, or anacs is recommended

I'll go with the buckled die theory. AU-58 straight.

Slight wear on Indian's bonnet band and feathers.
Lots of field marks which is common for a coin with out a raised rim. I tend to tolerate marks such as these with BLP Quarter and Half Eagles.
