Hi,

I am brand new to this forum and really only want to ask about an Aussie 1998 $2 coin which I picked up yesterday whilst shopping. The coin is circulated and on the obverse the letter T is completely missing from the word Australia. On closer examination you can see a faint mark where the top of the T should be but the rest is completely missing and it was never there. Viewed under strong light and with a loop you can find no evidence of the letter T ever being on the coin. So we have the word "AUS RALIA".
As I am not a collector what would this coin be worth and who would I sell it to? Thanks for any answers.

sounds like you may have a coin that was struck with a die that was obstructed with grease or some other foreign material causing the "T" to disappear

Yes Bryan you could be correct but I would assume this then is a faulty coin that has slipped through the system. Does this then increase its value? I will no doubt sell it but would like to know by any of your experts how much it could be worth. Thanks

yeh it's probably not damage done after being made, but I've never seen one before.
