I currently have my pre-decimals stored in Dansco Deluxe, push-in albums. Unfortunately they have stained my coins, particularly the florins. I am looking to change the albums over to the Dansco Supreme ones which are supposedly of 'archive' quality.
Can anyone confirm if these are a superior storage option, and if so where I would be able to purchase albums for all denominations? The only ones that appear to be available are for the shillings. I have put in requests overseas but haven't received any response as yet.
Or should I be looking at another storage alternative? I am not that keen on the 2"x2" because of the 'remoteness', difficulty of viewing etc.
Any suggestions for cleaning the stains non-invasively?
Anyone else have / had this problem?
Thanks.

I have NEVER used Dansco push in albums, just for the reason that you have indicated. Once a coin has acquired a fingerprint, it cannot be removed, unfortunately. Acetone certainly will not remove INorganic sulphide and oxide stains.

For many years, I have put all of my coins in mylar / cardboard 2x2's in archival quality polypropylene or mylar 20 pocket album pages. The presentation is a tad messy with my poor writing on the 2x2's, but at least, all of the details relating to each coin are with each coin. For me, the coins themselves are much more important than their presentation.
Date acquired and cost at that time, are the most important, and perhaps a grading.

At least, I get to see BOTH sides of each coin!

This option gives you the chance to move forward to improve the storage of ALL of your coins, not just Shillings.

Dansco Supreme albums are certainly better than push ins but are not archive quality.
The cardboard contains sulphur which will tone your coins.

For storage I use standard 2x2s (staple type NOT sticky).

For coins that have been stored in push in albums and have toned on the obverse its a bit tricky.
If they are bronze then WD40 should help.
For silver generally best to leave them alone.
If they are really ugly and you want to clean them then there are options depending on what you want to do with them.
Need to be a bit more specific.

Any suggestions for cleaning the stains non-invasively?

If you mean - is there a way to clean them to remove the toning ONLY I dont think so.
There is no way I'm aware of to remove such stains without being invasive.

I would also mention the no-staple self seal 2x2's as an option. No staples to harm coins and air tight so no additional toning. I've used them for about 30 years now.

A tad more expensive than regular 2x2's, and without the staples more room to write.

Not quite sure what you are referring to here but I consider that's one of the bonus's ... getting to view both sides easily.

I have never (touch wood) had problems with using staples with 2 x 2's ... I prefer them simply for the fact that I can interchange or reposition the coin easily by simply removing a staple or two.

Sticky (self sealing) 2x2s should be stored flat.
If stored upright they tend to come apart.
The coin then falls down and comes into contact with the glue.
I've seen quite a few coins ruined this way.

Yeah, good advice although it doesn't hurt to put a staple, stainless steel or copper,in the top of the self adhesive 2x2,they will then provide an air tight seal for Decades.
As I have posted before I have German SH 2x2's from the 1970's and the Coin is as good as the day it was inserted, you have to cut the 2x2 to get it out.
However it doesn't stop Verdigris from growing so you have to keep a check on Coppers.
