g,day the wife got a $5 note today and I have not seen one of these befor it is 2017 but without the clear section so its the old style note and it is a AA 17 190300 . also the colour is very pale not as bright as the normal notes . it is in real good condition bar one small crease on the top enge that looks to be from a rubber band or somthing , are these common or is it worth hanging onto .

I'd hang onto it. Those early $5 notes are extremely scarce in circulation, so if it's in good condition, I'd definitely keep it. The particular example you have is a general prefix that was made in 1992. According to the latest edition of Maccas, it's worth $16-25, depending on whether it's EF or aUnc.

Definitely a keeper.
Its amazing that after 25 years there are still some left in circulation.
I found one a few weeks back while noodling some $5 notes. They only issued in 1992 and 1993 and then they changed the colour and font to bring them into line with the other polymer notes
