New $5 Note The Wife Was Handed Today

texta New Member Australia 41 Posts	Posted 09/12/2017 03:56 am g,day the wife got a $5 note today and I have not seen one of these befor it is 2017 but without the clear section so its the old style note and it is a AA 17 190300 . also the colour is very pale not as bright as the normal notes . it is in real good condition bar one small crease on the top enge that looks to be from a rubber band or somthing , are these common or is it worth hanging onto . johno Report this Post to the Staff

Hercules Valued Member Australia 248 Posts	Posted 09/26/2017 07:35 am I'd hang onto it. Those early $5 notes are extremely scarce in circulation, so if it's in good condition, I'd definitely keep it. The particular example you have is a general prefix that was made in 1992. According to the latest edition of Maccas, it's worth $16-25, depending on whether it's EF or aUnc. I found one a few weeks back while noodling some $5 notes. They only issued in 1992 and 1993 and then they changed the colour and font to bring them into line with the other polymer notes Report this Post to the Staff
